  • Indeed vs LinkedIn (which is better)

What is Indeed?

Indeed is the largest job posting site on the internet. Founded in 2005, it has become known as one of the go to websites for posting and finding jobs online.

The site is free to use for both job seekers and companies looking to hire (with paid options available).

Job seekers can post their resumes, apply for jobs, take assessments, and learn about the companies they are applying to all on-site.

The assessments are a great feature which can help prove that you are right for the job and actually possess the skills listed on your resume.

Indeed Pros:

  • Free for everyone to use

  • Assessments help prove claims on your resume

  • You can post your resume and make it public or private

Indeed Cons:

  • The application process isn't as streamlined, so that it can take longer

  • Job search customization can be limiting

  • No option to make friends or connections

What is LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a social media network formed in 2002 to help connect professionals and organizations.

Users have a home page set up similar to how your resume is laid out with a mix of a Facebook page.

Once you set up your page, you start to build a network of co-workers and associates to help aid in your career.

On top of networking and having access to forums where you can learn about companies and business related topics, LinkedIn offers users a job board where they can search for work.

Though there are premium memberships, you can join LinkedIn and use many of their resources for free (including the job search function). The memberships can help you build your connections faster, but they are not necessary.

LinkedIn Pros:

  • Connections on the site can help you find work opportunities

  • The active community shares good ideas for finding new jobs

  • Free to create an account

LinkedIn Cons:

  • Can be time-consuming

  • You need to have a large network to make the most out of the platform

The Results | which is better indeed or linkedIn?

While both LinkedIn and Indeed are essential when it comes to finding a new job, they are vastly different platforms.

  • If you are looking for a large number of job listings and the least amount of time invested into the platform, Indeed is right for you.

  • But if you are looking to build a long lasting career with a large network that can help aid in your future, I’d go with LinkedIn (our choice).

You can’t go wrong with either but our personal favorite is LinkedIn due to its ability to generate relationships on the platform. This will often speed up the job search process and present more qualified opportunities to job seekers.

We hope this helps - good luck with the job search!
