Your default settings on LinkedIn will share new job updates, education changes, and work anniversaries with your current connections. You can choose to disable this feature by following the steps listed below:

When should I announce my new job on LinkedIn?
It would be best if you looked to announce a new job on your LinkedIn profile within the first 1 to 3 weeks of employment.
Ideally, you would announce after the previous job ends but before the new job begins. However, most employees are busy until their last day of employment and then jump straight into their new roles, leaving minimal time to make that update.

How to Announce Your New Job on LinkedIn
Announcing your new position on LinkedIn or any other social media channel can be broken down into three straightforward parts:
1. Thank Your Old Employer
Thanking your previous employer by highlighting what you’ve learned (accomplishments) and how grateful you were for your time with them.
You can also mention specific managers or others within the organization that positively impacted your career.
2. Explain What You Are Doing Next
These social media announcements are important for employment changes, as they keep your network informed on what’s happening within your career.
For the content itself, look to keep things simple. Write a few high-energy sentences about where you will be going (the new company), what you will be doing (your new job title), and why you are excited to join the company.
3. Post the update and prepare for Replies
Once the update is posted, you will likely get a mix of different "congratulations" and "why are you leaving" responses from people online.
Feel free to respond to these if you'd like, but I've always waited until after the post dies down before responding to anyone.
